Market for Neuromodulation

Neurmodulation devices are changing the manner in which clinicians treat diseases and clinical conditions. Neuromodulation devices are being used to help doctors treat a variety of conditions such as, Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, depression, obesity, incontinence, and spinal cord injuries. New applications being developed for neuromodulation devices have the potential to significantly expand clinical areas of use of this technology.

While the market for implantable neuromodulation devices is significant and well over $1 billion annually, the current sales of pharmaceutical solutions (traditional “1st & 2nd line solutions for patients) for these same clinical conditions and diseases are in the excess of $20 billion annually.

The reason for this market use disparity is primarily because current implantable nerve stimulation/ neuromodulation devices currently on the market require invasive methods or surgical procedures to implant, and are typically limited to addressing patients as a last resort of their disease states. These devices and related surgical procedures are expensive, and have associated increase in patient morbidity. As a result, their applications are limited to a very small subset of potential patients who are currently taking pharmaceuticals as regular treatment for their mild to chronic conditions.

NMT’s transdermal neuromodulation technology platform is a paradigm shift in comparison to the current neuromodulation devices. NMT’s technology has the potential to be used in lieu of, or in conjunction with pharmaceutical products. NMT’s platform represents a new class of innovative products that fuse the technology of a medical device with ease of pharmaceutical applications for treating acute and chronic conditions

NMT is developing innovate solutions using its transdermal neuromodulation technology platform to target multiple CNS and GI clinical indications in which over $20 billion of pharmaceutical products are sold on an annual basis. NMT’s clinical targets include; emesis, gastric distress, blood pressure modulation, incontinence, obesity, migraines, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
